Tim Tebow: A Calling Much Higher than Football

After being out of the NFL for two years, Tim Tebow was granted another opportunity earlier this year, when the Philadelphia Eagles signed him to a one-year deal.

Although, no one, including myself, fully understood the rationale behind the signing of Tebow, many were ecstatic to see him given another opportunity to play a sport that he has such a strong passion for.

Currently, Tebow is number 4 on the Eagles QB depth chart and it would take a very strong preseason performance by him to make their regular season roster.

On Friday, Tebow turned 28 and instead of posting selfies celebrating his special day, he decided to post a video montage of his charity, the Tim Tebow Foundation, celebrating 5 years of its establishment.

This special heartfelt video, narrated by Tom Rinaldi begins and ends with the story of Flora Mae Manuel, one of the first patients of the Tebow CURE hospital located in Davao City, Philippines.

"Being part of the Tim Tebow Foundation these past five years has been one of the greatest blessings of my life," Tebow tells PEOPLE Magazine. "I am so humbled by the way God has blessed this foundation through the support of so many."

With all the negative publicity that the NFL generated during the 2014 season from the likes of Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy, just to name a few, they could always use more positive role models like Tebow.

In a day and time that many choose to remain politically correct, Tebow has no reservations talking candidly about his strong faith in God and his religious beliefs. I'm not implying that he's the only athlete to ever do so, but he’s certainly one of just a small percentage that stands firmly behind their faith.

Although many may question and criticize his ability as an NFL QB, no one could ever question Tim Tebow’s heart. Even if he were to come up short in his efforts to make the Eagles roster, I wouldn’t consider him a failure. The Tim Tebow foundation is just 5 years old, but I’m more than certain, it’ll be around impacting generations long after Tebow's playing days are over. This is what makes his calling in life, much higher than football. He is clearly a WINNER!
