The Rematch: UNCvsDuke

Duke and North Carolina… If you want to evoke strong sentiments, just put the two schools in the same sentence and be prepared for the mother of all emotional roller coasters.

Regardless of which team harbors your loyalty, the rivalry between the two schools is epic, so much so that you would be hard-pressed to find an avid college hoops fan that would not list it as one of the greatest—if not the greatest—in college hoops.

The matchup between the two schools always produces pre-game euphoria and, depending on the outcome, can illicit depression or bliss. If you’re not convinced, just visit an online article about a game between the two schools and review the comment section.

But enough about the rivalry, let’s get to tonight’s game…

No. 4 Duke will host No. 14 North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium at 9 P.M.

The location of the game concerns me more so than the teams’ respective rankings. Because as we all know, ranking means nothing between the two schools when they play each other. And while Duke’s home court advantage gives me reason to pause, I can’t honestly say North Carolina is not up for the challenge.

Yes, Duke rarely loses two in a row. Yes, Duke hasn’t lost at home all season. And Vegas placed the odds in Duke’s favor. Oh, yeah, and the Cameron Crazies make Cameron Indoor Stadium problematic for opponents.

Maybe I’m crazier for dismissing all the facts and going with North Carolina for the win…in a close one.
